NEC PC-9821

1. Installation failure

   Installation failure on the NEC PC-9821 is caused by incompatibility between Windows95 for the NEC PC-98 series and the standard Windows95 release. It will be resolved with patches for NEC Windows95 by NEC Corp., but Community Place may not properly operate.

2. Java implemetation on the NEC PC-9821

   The reason for this problem is the same as was given above. It is so difficult to work fast in Community Place, which is an application of Java, because it is reported that Java is not working fast under Netscape Navigator on the NEC PC-98 series.

Solution

We recommend that the latest patches distributed by NEC Corp. for NEC Windows95 be installed. After that, set up the Netscape helper application that is called for "x-world/x-vrml" MIME types to "vscp.exe -d" in the bottom text field.

We do not guarantee that this will operate properly.
